Mobile Shredder vs. Stationary Shredder – How Do You Choose?

At Kowloon, we understand that every customer, every project site, every crushing material and every output specification is unique, so there is no one standard solution that will fit all situations. When recommending an appropriate equipment configuration, we consider every detail to ensure our customers' actual needs are met.

Waste disposal companies often ask us how to choose between mobile shredders and stationary shredders. In response to this issue, we have summarized the following key factors for your reference:

First, you need to consider the types of materials you want to shred and where those materials will be stored. For example, both the GD series dual-shaft shredder and the GPW series wheeled solid waste mobile crushing station can process the same waste, thanks to their advanced internal structure design. However, if you have different material handling areas on your site, it may be more convenient to move the shredder from one location to another. In some cases, the equipment may even need to travel to a second or third site, which is when a mobile shredder becomes particularly important.

Secondly, space is also an important factor to consider. If you have limited space on your site, such as on a busy site, a mobile shredder may be more suitable for your needs due to its high degree of flexibility. On the other hand, if weight and money are factors, stationary shredders are usually much lighter and cheaper.

Additionally, if the shredder will be used in an existing waste disposal line, a mobile shredder may be more suitable for flexibility reasons. However, if you are designing a waste disposal line from scratch, a stationary shredder is usually more recommended. This is because they can be easily used in conjunction with other equipment such as conveyors, winnowers, rolling screens, magnetic separators, etc. to achieve higher recovery rates, thereby increasing revenue.

Finally, we always focus on the health and safety of our operators. All Kowloon shredders are carefully designed to ease operation, facilitate maintenance and ensure uptime while protecting operator health. For stationary shredders, we can also equip them with an integrated or adjacent platform to provide a more ideal maintenance location. In addition, all Kowloon shredders are designed to reduce dust and noise levels, which is not only good for the environment but also provides a safer working environment for operators.
